Template Authoring

Map Data Fields Onto Any Government Form. Without Touching The Formatting.

A Microsoft Word add-in for compliance and operations teams. Work directly on the original form. No rebuilding in a proprietary editor, no layout changes, no risk that the output no longer matches what the regulator requires.

Most Tools Ask You To Rebuild The Form. That Is Where The Risk Starts.

Government and regulatory forms are fixed by design. The layout, field positions, and spacing are mandated by the issuing authority. When a generation tool requires you to recreate that form in its own editor, any deviation from the original is a potential compliance issue. By the time the rebuild is done, the formatting is different and someone has to check it against the original. That check is manual, time-consuming, and easy to get wrong.

Templx does not ask you to rebuild anything. The Word add-in works on the actual form. Floating placeholders sit on top of the existing content without shifting a line. The document that comes out of generation is the same document that went in, with data filled in.

What The Add-In Does.

  1. 01
    Floating Placeholders
Data fields that overlay any government form without moving existing content. Unlike inline placeholders that push surrounding text out of position, floating placeholders are placed on top of existing lines. The original form layout is preserved exactly.
  2. 02
    Placeholder Catalog
A searchable library of all data fields, scoped to your tenant and accessible from the Word sidebar. The catalog is managed in the workbench. Any field added there is immediately available in the add-in for every author in your organisation.
  3. 03
    Conditional Content Blocks
Sections of document content that show or hide at generation time based on incoming payload values. A conditional block wraps any section of a form and evaluates against a named payload field. No scripting required to configure it.
  4. 04
    Fragment Library
Reusable content sections placed across templates and updated in one place. A fragment is a managed block of content maintained in the workbench. When the fragment is updated, every template that uses it reflects the change automatically at the next generation.
  5. 05
    Calculated Fields
Placeholder values computed at generation time from expressions involving other placeholder values. A calculated field holds an expression rather than a data field reference. At generation, the expression is evaluated and the result is placed into the document.

Authoring Is Step One. The Workbench Takes It From Here.

When a template is submitted from the Word add-in, it enters the approval workbench and waits for the configured workflow to complete. The placeholder catalog and fragment library are both managed in the workbench, so any changes made there are available in the add-in automatically. Nothing authored in Word reaches the generation API without passing through governance first.
